5 great reasons to study in the USA...

Hello again and thanks for checking in. Super New Year to you of course!

Today I would be writing about the 5 top reasons to study in the USA. I hope you found our 5 great reasons to study in the UK helpful. Please share with friends and loved ones who might need this if you can. Thank you.

The USA has since been the place where most international students study for various reasons and more. Our top 5 reasons why this is the case are as follows:

·         Numerous Universities and course choices: The US has over 4,500 Universities to choose from with over 250 or more degree programs. You could have very rare and exciting selections such as Entertainment Management, Restaurant and Food Service Management, Health Informatics and Information Management, Communication Sciences and Disorders, Visual Arts and Emerging Media Management, Jazz Studies amongst others.

·         Robust and flexible educational program: The beauty of their educational program is that you could do a ‘major’ and ‘minor’ within the 4 year period. This means that you have the flexibility to explore your interests in the 1st year if you’re undecided and take a course such as Psychology and dance. You could also complete a ‘double major’ which means you would be completing a degree in 2 subjects within the same space of 4 years – How interesting!

·         Immigrant-friendly with work opportunities: Students enrolling for courses in the STEM fields (meaning Sciences, Technology, Engineering and Maths) are eligible to stay back in the country for 3 years post-education to work while those in the Business or Humanities route can only stay for 1 year post-education. Policies change so you could always ask your education consultant and the Universities directly. Also, there are huge opportunities to take on a GAP year often called a ‘career acceleration program’ in some universities giving students the opportunity to gain further knowledge and ground themselves in the system.

·         Age friendly: Several years ago, students aged 16 years could not be enrolled on an undergraduate program but this has changed. Although some universities still insist on students being 17 at the start of the academic program, many have become quite flexible. Now students can start Year 1 at the university but with some bit of extra support and ‘hand-holding’ especially for international students. Extra support could range from free airport pickup, greater attention in smaller classes and language and academic help. Students would however need to meet the credit requirements before moving to Year 2. Some Universities have also started to waive the SAT or TOEFL which could save you some money upfront. (For more information about Universities accepting students at 16 and waiving such exams, please email me on info@i-excelconsultingng.com)

·         Highly reputable with robust opportunities: According to the World University rankings for 2019, US Universities are definitely highly reputable with the top 7 out of 10 being US Universities.      However, the American society also comes with a lot of freedom and fun. While the fun and freedom might be okay for some, it could be distracting to others. I often advise Parents with children aged 16 and 17 to be sure their child/ward can stand the pressures that come with such freedom before sending them off. The personality of your child can determine where you send him/her.

And there again goes my top 5 reasons to study in the USA. My next up should be the ‘Top 5 reasons to study in Canada’ which I am sure a lot of people are looking forward to hopefully. I have a ‘feeling’ I might digress a bit again as I often do but I promise it would be equally interesting.
Till I come your way again, Stay positive.
