Studying Abroad (Part 1)

Way back 2005, I was a proud alumnus of OAU Ife (I still am). I went for my NYSC in 2006 and completed it in 2007. Amidst the many jobs I had applied for including jobs in my dream companies - KPMG, Accenture, PWC...I landed a job with a small education consulting firm in December 2007 and they were all about promoting international education with interest in the UK. Even though I worked there, I kept saying to myself, “Why study abroad? Ife is great, and I had a good experience there” (even with the ASUU strikes and other breaks that were uncalled for - lol). Spending 6 years for a 4-and-a-half-year program wasn’t a big deal (or so I thought). I also thought studying abroad was a massive investment which wasn’t necessary. However, as I remained within the company, I noticed there was more to studying abroad than the ‘hype’ it looked like it had. My boss who had studied abroad was an amazement to me.
